violetjulia and minihorses

First off, beautiful beautiful polaroid photography from violetjulia. She injects such tranquil, peaceful beauty into her images... i'm in love! Most of her scenes are natural: landscapes, leafs, animals (but you still don't get bored by the 20th tree!).

I've been thinking about horses because my boyfriend recently told me he wanted to take me to see some "mystical creatures" in Santa Barbara. He couldn't believe that these "creatures" existed and that we could see them there. He refused to tell me what they were, so I went on an investigative search. I googled everything from "mystical creatures santa barbara" to "reindeer santa barbara".

Finally, I googled "petting zoo" and make a wild guess from their animal list: mini horses. To which my boyfriend responded: "WHY WOULD YOU EVER RUIN MY OUR LIFE DATE?? HOW DID YOU GUESS??" What a funny man.

rebecca thuss

Okay. Why have I discovered you so late Rebecca Thuss!? You are BRILLIANT.

From her website:

"Rebecca Thuss is an award winning photo-stylist, a creative director, wedding designer and crafter. She delights in throwing parties, has a passion for packaging, a weakness for fanciful candy and confections, and an infatuation with vintage paper items. Currently Rebecca and her husband Patrick Farrell are partners in a multidisciplinary photography and graphic design firm—ThussFarrell. In addition to still life, lifestyle, travel, and portrait photography, the firm offers graphic and web design, branding and identity design, and creative direction."

And if you didn't know, she was the style director in 2003 for Martha Stewart Weddings (during her 1996-2006 tenure there). Check out her breathtaking and inspiring work (which you've probably seen before):

the animal print shop

Today I have fallen in love with the prints over at The Animal Print Shop.

Okay, I'll admit, my first thought was, "Why does this woman have a shop full of prints of baboons, bunnies and giraffes?" I thought she was a bit crazy to have a store dedicated to these animals, however adorable. But with a couple more looks I have fallen in love. And then I found out that the photographer was none other than Sharon Montrose, who is one of the top commercial photographers specializing in animals (think Target's red-circle-eyed dog).

Aren't they charming and darling!? I want all the bird prints!

Plus the website is designed by the brilliant folks over at ALSO, so how could I resist?

crystal + jon wedding invites

Wedding invitation I designed for my friend Crystal! My first time working with watercolor + computer. They have a orange-yellow/indigo/chartreuse color palette for their wedding...hence the colors :). They wanted something light-hearted/cartoon-like with craspedia (billy balls) to match their floral choice for their upcoming wedding...which is what the little bride and groom are standing on.

Can't wait for their wedding!

천은실

I am absolutely in love with Chun Eun Sil. The soft, muted color, the fairytale-like characters.... drive me crazy.

She even creates iphone covers! If only she sold prints! Maybe she does?

Make something new everyday

I've decided to start a "make something new everyday" series on my tumblr to challenge myself. It might be an illustration (like the one I did above) or a painting or a photo. Whatever tickles my fancy.

Check it out here: http://thepaperdialogues.tumblr.com/

what i wore today

happy sunday!

i know, i'm centuries behind but i decided to jump on the bandwagon and also keep my mind fresh and inspired by joining in on the what-i-wore-today exercise. :)

my favorites are always from gemma correll:

and check out the blog!

anyways, i was thinking in the shower today(ironic) how spend so much time thinking about things i'm going to do rather than actually doing them. i should be using my free time drawing/designing more things just because!

*EDIT* Gemma featured my illustration on the blog! cool!

at work

(teri lyn fisher)

I know, I'm never here anymore (all my posts seem to start this way). BUT I am here to tell you all that I am still alive! And well! And busy! (well, sometimes)

A list (I work better this way when my mind is a jumble):

1. my external hard drive died recently. i lost a lot of work and old photos and i wanted to die. but i decided i would be okay with it, so i put it away in a drawer and have not thought too much about it. :(
2. i have been getting commissioned for more weddings/engagement shoots and i am very very excited :) check out my blog!
3. what is up with LA weather? feels like i'm in humid, sweltering asia!
4. digging daniel blackman's graphic america illustrations.
5. finished save-the-dates/invites for a friend and just got commissioned to do invites for another! awesome! (will show you guys what they look like when I receive them).
6. everyone around me is getting engaged. makes me jealous, but also makes me want to make things like this (cute free save the date card).
7. i wish all book covers were illustrated by jim tierney. true story.

Have a wonderful weekend!
